Alliance to End Homelessness to release 2016 Progress Report on Ending
Homelessness in Ottawa on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 (7:45 – 9:00 am)
The Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa will release the annual Progress
Report on Ending Homelessness in Ottawa – reporting on shelter use and
affordable housing options in 2016 – on Tuesday, April 11. The Progress Report
will be released in the Councillor’s Lounge, at Ottawa City Hall. Doors will
be open by 7:45, with formal remarks underway by 8:00 am. Media is welcome.
Along with a brief presentation by Mike Bulthuis (Executive Director) of 2016
progress and challenges, local service providers will offer perspectives from
their vantage point, including Sue Garvey (Executive Director, Cornerstone
Housing for Women); Wanda Macdonald (CEO, Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health
Centre); and Ray Sullivan (Executive Director, Centretown Citizens Ottawa
Corporation).
Elected officials of all three orders of government have confirmed attendance
and brief remarks, including: Adam Vaughan (MP, Spadina-Fort York; and
Parliamentary Secretary, Families, Children and Social Development (Housing
and Urban Affairs)); Nathalie Des Rosiers (MPP, Ottawa-Vanier; and
Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Housing); Mayor Jim Watson; and
Deputy Mayor, and Special Liaison on Housing and Homelessness, Mark Taylor.
Numerous other City Councillors will be present, as well.
