Housing Policy

This toolkit gives an overview of the key housing challenges in Ottawa, particularly as they relate to long-term rental housing. It also explores potential strategies to mitigate Ottawa’s housing crisis, including landlord registration by-laws, an Anti Displacement Policy & Renoviction Bylaw, educational campaigns, and inclusionary zoning policies.

Tenants Rights

The purpose of this toolkit is to inform tenants and community allies of the current laws around  three key tenancy issues: Rent Increases, Evictions, and Municipal Property Standards. With this knowledge, tenants will be able to inform themselves of their rights so they can be exercised, and the community will be able to identify areas of improvement to inspire systemic change.

 

Housing Advocacy

This toolkit provides tips and pointers for different approaches to advocacy, as well as a list of resources to you help develop the knowledge, skills, and network needed to engage in advocacy activities (including petitioning, phone calls or writing letters to decision makers, community meetings, media coverage, town halls and direct actions).
