About the Alliance to End Homelessness (ATEHO)
The ATEHO is a member-driven coalition of people and organizations working together to end homelessness through systems planning and coordination, public education and advocacy, and community-wide mobilization.

The ATEHO believes in centering people most impacted by homelessness and working together to codesign solutions. Our organization has long included people with lived experience of homelessness, including as members, volunteers, staff and Board members so that we can work together to end homelessness.
About the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the corporation. The primary focus of the Board is the ATEHO’s mission, values, objectives, strategic planning, effective achievement of goals, and efficient utilization of resources.
The ATEHO Board is led by volunteers - member agency executive leaders, community members and members with lived experience. There are a maximum of 17 seats on the Board. There are two seats on the Board reserved for people with lived experience of homelessness, and the Board is looking to fill those seats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly Board meetings (in person) and engage in regular Board correspondence
- Stay informed on ATEHO Board and committee matters, prepare for meetings, review and comment on minutes and reports
- Build collegial working relationships with other Board members
- Actively participate in evaluation and planning efforts
- Actively participate in fundraising, member engagement and recruitment activities
- Participate in various ATEHO events and activities as needed throughout the year
- Willingness to attend meetings/events both within and outside of normal business hours
- Respect for diversity and a strong commitment to volunteerism
- English Essential (Bilingualism is an asset)
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have lived experience of homelessness, as well as some of the following additional skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues related to homelessness, affordable housing and poverty
- Board or committee experience
- Experience in working collaboratively and strategically to effect organizational growth and development
- Ability to build and keep positive working relationships with different people and organizations to help ATEHO reach its goals
- Experience with budgets and financial planning
- Systems planning
Time Commitment
Approximately 5 hrs/month including travel and meeting preparation
The Board of Directors meets ten times a year, once a month between September and June. Board meetings are held in person on the first Friday of the month from 10:00am-12:00pm. There may be additional opportunities for participation such as committees and events.
Compensation
This is a volunteer position, but $26.50/hour remuneration is provided for board related work for Board members with lived experience.
